STELLARIA, winner of the France 2030 "innovative reactors" call for projects.

STELLARIA, a french leader of the 2*110 MWe molten salt SMR’s, and its partners CEA, TECHNIP ENERGIES and SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC are proud to announce that STELLARIA, in consortium with Orano, is the winner of the France 2030 "innovative reactors" call for projects.

STELLARIA is launching the STELLARIUM®, the world's first fast neutron pile capable of renewing 100% of its fuel in its core during operation. 70 million times denser than a lithium-ion battery, this pile can store up to 20 TWh and thus power a city of 300,000 inhabitants autonomously for 20 years.  STELLARIUM® provides new, ultra-low-carbon, sustainable energy, generating flexible electricity that can be controlled as quickly as gas-fired power plants. It's the missing regional link between intermittent power and large dispatchable power delivered by national power plants. It provides a definitive decarbonized, high-efficiency solution for all electro-intensive industries, guaranteeing them a competitive, stable and predictable energy bill for 20 years.

Finally, STELLARIUM® opens new possibilities for the incineration of long-lived waste, and for the multi-recycling of spent fuel from reactors, thus contributing to competitive cycle closure. Operating below the surface, it adapts in seconds to any power level, providing a level of natural safety previously unattainable, enabling deployment in any industrial, seismic or urban zone.

STELLARIA is a spin-off from the CEA, an internationally renowned player in R&D for fast breeder reactor concepts. Backed by Supernovainvest  and Exergon deep tech’ funds, STELLARIA is partnering with the CEA in this project. The CEA will provide technical support for the project as part of phase 1 of France 2030.

STELLARIA also officially launches its industrial alliance with its major strategic partners and shareholders, including SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC, leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, and TECHNIP ENERGIES, world leader in the engineering and construction of modular plants. Together with its partners, STELLARIA aims to commission its first reactor in 2033, and series reactors as early as 2035.

The consortium with Orano enables the necessary acceleration of synchronized R&D between fuels and reactors. The France 2030 program is also a catalyst for the electrification and digitization of the economy, while responding to the energy and environmental crisis, offering a scaled response at scale, of the ambitious "net-zero 2035" challenges of the world's major industrial customers.

The entire STELLARIA team would like to thank its partners and all government departments for their confidence in this ambitious environmental project.
